Blik

Pay in shops, pay online, take cash out of an ATM — with a six-digit code from the banking app you already have.

  • Inside your bank app
  • No card needed
  • Transfers to a phone number

What you can do with it

Four everyday things, all of them done from the same place on your phone.

Used most

Pay with a one-time code

At the till or on a checkout page, choose Blik, read the six digits from your banking app and type them in.

  • Works in shops and online
  • Each code is single-use
  • You confirm the amount in your app
  • Refunds return to the same account

Cash without a card

Pick Blik on the ATM screen, enter the code, approve it on your phone and take the notes.

  • No card in the slot
  • Choose the amount in the app or on screen
  • Card can stay at home

Send money to a phone number

Pay someone back using the number already in your contacts, instead of asking them for an account number.

  • No IBAN to copy out
  • Arrives in seconds
  • Works between participating banks

Pay by phone at the terminal

Hold the phone to the payment terminal and confirm — the same account, no plastic involved.

  • Nothing to take out of your wallet
  • Confirmed on your own screen
  • Receipt as usual

Blik appears inside the banking app of participating Polish banks — what the screen looks like depends on your bank.

From opening the app to paid

  1. Open your banking app

Blik sits inside the app your bank already gave you. There is no separate account to open and nothing new to top up.

  2. Ask for a code

Tap Blik and a six-digit code appears. It is single-use and good only for a short window.

  3. Type it where you are paying

At the shop terminal, in the checkout field on a website, or on the ATM keypad.

  4. Confirm the amount

Your app shows who is asking and for how much. Approve it and the money leaves your account straight away.

Why people pay this way

The code alone is not enough

A payment only goes through after you approve the exact amount on your own phone. Someone reading the digits over your shoulder cannot finish it.

Codes expire

Each one is generated for a single payment and stops working shortly afterwards, whether you used it or not.

No card number handed over

Shops and websites never see your card details — they see a code that is worthless once the payment is done.

A phone number is enough to send money

No account number dictated across a table, no typing an IBAN into a banking form.

Refunds go back where they came from

Money returns to the account the payment left, without a separate claim or a card to present at the counter.

★★★★★
I stopped taking my card to the shop weeks ago. Phone, code, confirm — and the amount my app asks me to approve is the one on the receipt.

Splitting dinner used to mean someone reading out an account number. Now it is a phone number and the money is there before we leave the restaurant.

It took me a minute to find it in my bank app the first time. After that, the cash machine without a card is the part I would miss most.
